OGHA Holds FORA To Empower People Living With Disabilities, Others
As part of its commitment towards formulating people-oriented legislations for the overall development of the State, the Ogun State House of Assembly will on Wednesday August 16, 2017, hold a stakeholders’ forum on bills titled: H. B No 012/OG/2017- People with Disability Law of Ogun State Bill, 2017 as well as H.B No. 013/OG/2017- Violence Against Persons (Prohibition Law), 2017.
The stakeholders’ forum a…ccording to a release from the Clerk of the Assembly, Engr. Lanre Bisiriyu, is meant to harness the contributions of all stakeholders towards protecting and promoting the rights of the people living with disability as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
In the release, the Violence Prohibition Law is meant to enhance peaceful environment by resolving domestic conflicts through modern dispute resolution measures in line with United Nations (UN) Social Order Policy.
The Assembly, according to the release will on Thursday, August 17, 2017, hold another public hearing on “HB No. 017/OG/2017- The Arbitration, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Other Related Matters Law of Ogun State, 2017 as well as “H. B No. 18/OG/2017: The Administration of Criminal Justice (ACJ) and other Related Matters Law of Ogun State, 2017” to allow stakeholders and the entire people of the State contribute their inputs to the bills aimed at creating the Ogun State Court of Arbitration with a view to providing simple and speedy alternative approach to justice dispensation.
It notes that the fora will hold at the Conference Hall of the State House of Assembly Complex, Oke- Mosan, Abeokuta, beginning from 10:00 a.m. each day as stakeholders are enjoined to be seated at 9.30 a.m. prompt
